EmoSocio Ontology Specification

Abstract

The EmoSocio Model, represents the emotional competences of individuals as well as their sociometric relationships. It is described using W3C RDF Schema and the Web Ontology Language.

Introduction back to ToC

EmoSocio is an open access Emotional Intelligence Model, built upon a detailed comparison and synthesis of the main constructs represented in widely-accepted EI models and enriched with sociometric indexes at an individual and group level. EmoSocio is conceptualized in a semantically-enriched format in the form of an ontology. Our ambition is to provide an open access EI model that can be used by multidisciplinary scientists to evaluate psychological assessment processes and develop interventions to assist the strengthening of interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies.

EmoSocio Ontology: Description back to ToC

The Emosocio ontology is developed based on the W3C Web Ontology Language (OWL) that is a Semantic Web language designed to represent rich and complex knowledge about things, groups of things, and relations between things. The development is based on the adoption of concepts denoted in existing upper ontologies, such as the Friend of a Friend (FOAF) ontology. Other baseline schemas such as the Resource Description Framework (RDF) schema and the XML Schema Definition Language are also used. In this way, we build upon fundamental and widely adopted concepts and semantics and provide the required extensions to introduce the EmoSocio constructs.

eccentricitydp back to ToC or Data Property ToC

IRI: https://netmode.gitlab.io/emosocio/eccentricity

The eccentricity measures the largest distance between a node and all other nodes. The lower the eccentricity is for a node on a graph the more socially integrated this node seems to be within the social group. The popularity of a group member can also be measured based on the radius of a graph, which is the minimum eccentricity in the graph. Members with eccentricity equal or close to the radius are expected to be the more well fitted members in a social group.
